Trafalgar Tours is part of The Travel Corporation's international collection of travel and tourism operators that encompass some of the finest travel brands available throughout the world. TTC is especially interested in promoting tourism to South Africa and Gavin Tollman serves as chairman of TTC SA. Under the TTC SA wing, such companies as “Lion World Tours”and “African Travel Inc” are being managed and operated. Gavin Tollman is in direct contact with the South African government to promote South Africa as a rewarding travel destination. He hopes that by highlighting tours to the region, incoming tourists will boost the local economy and build important social links with the local people. TTC also supports South African travel through “Cullinan Holdings” and “Wilderness Safaris”, where Gavin Tollman is a shareholder.
South African Conference Brings Delegates to Local Communities
Gavin Tollman maintains a strong connection with South Africa, where he was born. At the Travel Corporation’s International Sales Conference that took place in Cape Town in October 2010 the company announced that, together with the South African Tourist organization, it would be creating an alliance aimed to promote, market and develop South Africa as a tourist destination. One of the reasons that TTC hosted its important sales event, attended by some 350 leaders of the tourism industry, in South Africa was to provide these leaders with the opportunity to personally experience South Africa. Tollman stressed the family connection to South Africa as well as its importance as a destination for world tourism and reiterated the commitment of the group’s management to mobilize “TTC's unparalleled strength of reach, expertise, service, and experience across the globe for the benefit of our homeland." Another milestone at the TTC event for Gavin Tollman was Trafalgar USA receiving the Trafalgar Tours' Office of the Year award, which he accepted on their behalf.
Background
Gavin Tollman grew up in South Africa and was educated in the US. His job experience began with his appointment as Executive Vice President at Buckhead Hotel Management Company. Though the industry was deep in an economic downturn, Tollman was successful in arranging refinancing packages for hotels in financial trouble. Since 1997 Gavin Tollman has been with Trafalgar Tours.
